Smart Aviation offers you countless advantages.

    • travel more safely because there are less people who have to check in or collect their luggage, which means faster progress through the airport

Unfortunately you cannot yet book our services through a travel agency, but this will also be a possibility in the near future. Of course you can still book our services yourself even if you have booked your trip through a travel agency.

Of course! The same rules apply as if you were staying in a hotel. In other words, you can use our outward journey services (‘home/hotel pick-up’ or ‘home/hotel check-in’) and return journey services (‘home/hotel delivery’ or ‘arrival services’) if you are staying somewhere temporarily.

That is entirely up to you! The courier (drop & go) or Securitas driver (premium services) will contact you as soon as your luggage has been picked up. Then you can choose for yourself what time your luggage is delivered safely to your home or hotel.

 

Luggage

 

In theory we can transport all types of luggage. All you need to do is let us know whether it is ordinary or unconventional luggage. Since the permitted dimensions of ordinary luggage vary by airline, we request that you contact your airline for more information.

No, Smart Aviation does not deal with hand luggage except for children’s buggies.

Since your luggage is scanned at various points, we always know where it is located. That makes it easy for us to recall your luggage and deliver it back to your home or hotel at a later date.

Your luggage is automatically insured, because it has been checked in with your airline. We would like to point out, however, that compensation for any loss or damage is extremely limited. For this reason, we advise you to obtain separate travel or luggage insurance that will provide your luggage with extra and appropriate cover.

Go to the lost & found website, where you can enter a description of the lost item. The same thing happens for all found items. This enables the website to find a correct match automatically between the found items and the person who has lost it.

 

Payment

 

Our price simulator will give you a clearer picture of how much our services cost. Just fill in a few details so that the simulator can estimate the price.

The price you pay for a service is determined by staffing costs, security, transportation and the use of our app.

There could be a disruption to services at your bank or on our website. We advise you to check first with your bank that everything is working properly there. If so, be sure to contact us. We will be pleased to help!

Collection & transport

 

No, only the traveller that booked our service needs to be present. Do make sure to have the travel documents of this person ready at the time of collection.

No, unfortunately that is not yet possible. Smart Aviation can only offer its services in Belgium for the time being.

Your luggage will be collected on the day before your departure, between 13:00 and 21:00. Depending on the luggage service you choose, the courier (drop & go) or Securitas driver (premium services) will contact you to arrange a more precise time slot

Depending on the luggage service you choose, your luggage will be collected by the courier or Securitas driver.

  • Drop & go: the courier takes all the luggage to a special storage area at the airport with security cameras. You can pick up your luggage from there on the day of departure and then check it in yourself.
  • Premium services: all the luggage collected by Securitas is taken first to a highly secure depot at Zaventem. The luggage is screened there at various levels and then undergoes a final screening process in the airport itself. The airport tries to process as much luggage as possible during the night to spread the workload and reduce queues at check-in. That is more comfortable and safer for both passengers and staff. Fewer people checking in or collecting their luggage at the airport makes things easier for everyone.

For the transportation of your luggage, Smart Aviation works with a fixed courier (for drop & go) and Securitas, the world leader in security (for premium services). In the latter case, only one driver has access to the secure vehicle during transit. The vehicle is also monitored with a tracking system, so that we know exactly where your luggage is and which driver is in charge of it. Depending on the luggage service chosen, your luggage will be taken to a special storage area with security cameras or a highly secure depot at Zaventem. So your luggage is in safe hands at all times.

If you opt for a premium service, you can follow every step of its journey. Your luggage is scanned at various places, and you are kept informed of its progress by e-mail. We also monitor the process closely ourselves, so that we can make sure everything happens according to plan.

About Smart Aviation

 

Ben Touhami, the inventor and founder of Smart Aviation, has more than 25 years of experience in the world of air travel. He has held various luggage sorting and lost & found positions at Aviapartner and Swissport. In total, he has spent 20 years in management positions in various handling operations. This means that he understands every facet of airport life, the check-in process and lost & found. He was also the managing director of his own courier and transport company for many years, which is when he came up with the idea of the remote check-in. This meant he could count on his large network and the reliable contacts he had built up through the years with various airports and airlines.

Smart Aviation offers a win-win situation for passengers, airports and airlines. Passengers can enjoy comfortable, stress-free travel without their luggage, or because we deal with the entire luggage check-in process, at their home or at another location. This means they don’t have to make their way to the airport with a lot of luggage or heavy items. If they opt for a premium service, they can even go directly to the gate or the duty-free shops. Furthermore, they reduce their travel time by an hour and a half by avoiding the long queues for check-in at the airport. Smart Aviation monitors their luggage throughout the entire process. This means that we always know where the luggage is and we can intervene quickly if we see that the luggage has not been loaded onto the airplane. In this way, we minimize the chance of luggage going missing at the departure airport. The check-in process at the passenger’s home or another location also offers a major advantage for airports. They can process the luggage that has already been checked in and collected during the night, enabling them to spread their workload and reduce their costs.
